Sciatica

Sciatica occurs when there is pain within the sciatic nerve. This is a nerve that goes from the lower back down each leg, as seen in the diagram to the left. This pain happens if something is irritating the nerve, commonly a herniated disc in the lower back, where the herniated disc puts pressure on the sciatic nerve causing the pain we call sciatica. Normally only one side of the body is affected by this pain, and it usually runs from the lower back down through the thigh to the bottom of the leg. Our Chiropractors are able to make adjustments that will relieve the pressure on the nerve by bringing the bones and discs back into proper alignment and restoring motion to the joints.
